Here is the image of my Keyboard Maestro script - I hope it might help others. I love that this macro will launch or just activate NVAlt so it doesn't matter whether it's already open or not. I've mapped a keyboard shortcut of ^⌥⌘-V to invoke NVAlt, fill a unique date-time stamp (down to seconds to avoid ambiguity if two notes are taken in the same minute), add a tag, then put me into the note field ready to type. Our newer Simperium service uses Amazon Web Services (AWS), and is built to be much more resilient to failure. So where does Keyboard Maestro step in? It solves the 'brain spinning' problem. Many of the apps that sync with Simplenote, including some of our favorites like Notational Velocity and nvALT, still use this legacy API. Finally, the Simplenote sync means I can access everything on iOS quickly and easily as well. Dropbox sync means that other computers get the notes. This way, I can use NVAlt directly, but DevonThink also indexes the Dropbox folder so I can search within that program. So I've decided to run with NVAlt as a capture tool which I have set up to save each note to Dropbox, and also have set to sync with Simplenote. I tried using the DevonThink capture for a while, but that meant the note was stuck on my Mac. I'm trying to concentrate on the conversation, which leads to my mind going in circles about "which app to use?", "what's that keyboard shortcut?", etc. Despite having OmniFocus, DevonThink Pro, plus a myriad of other note taking options, I still find it really hard to just take a quick note when I'm talking to somebody. I often find myself on the phone and need to take a quick note.
